Ice climbing workshop in Rjukan

We are happy to announce the upcoming ice climbing workshop in Rjukan!

We will head out together Friday afternoon (15.03), probably around kl. 16:00. In Rjukan, we will stay at the Rjukan Old School Hostel. On Friday evening we will prepare the equipment for the coming ice climbing days. It is planned to climb the whole Saturday and Sunday. We will meet up with a very experienced instructor who will guide the two-day "workshop".

We have 10 spots available, so sign up soon if you know you want to join. You do not need to have a rope partner in advance, you can team up with one of the other participants.

The content of the workshop will depend on ice conditions and the experience level of the group, but you will learn good ice climbing techniques, crampon placement, ice axe swing, what to look for when climbing ice, how to be as safe as possible, how to place an ice screw and build a belay station on ice, and how to make a v-thread. You might also get to place an ice screw on top rope.  First and foremost it will be about climbing ice and having fun! You don't necessarily need to have climbed ice before, but in order to join the workshop, we require that you

• have brattkort (or similar experience from abroad)
• harness
• helmet and belay device (optional)
• winter clothes 
• and a good pair of gloves

The price covers accommodation for two nights, transport, the instructor, and the equipment (boots, crampons, axes, rope).

Regarding transportation: Do you have a private car that we can use for driving to Rjukan? This would be great! Please give us a short notice or send us a message if you can drive! Thank you in advance!

Otherwise, we will rent cars on Hyre. The car costs will be covered by OSI klatring.

Regarding food: You have to bring your food. The hostel has a big kitchen with all the facilities :)
